About Me

As a newly qualified art teacher from NCAD, with three years of experience in post-primary schools behind me, Bernadette is approaching curriculum development and teaching with fresh eyes and enthusiasm. She is passionate about inclusive learning and encouraging students in all aspects of their education, similar to the nurturing she received in her own secondary schooling.

Coming from Westmeath, Bernadette has a keen interest in all things nature and outdoors. Fascinated by the transience of time, the myths and legends Ireland provides, and the wonderful countryside she lives in, Bernadette's own art practice and influences bleed into her teaching, inspiring students and colleagues alike.

A year 'out' of schooling, deferring Law in Trinity College Dublin, saw Bernadette partake in an art portfolio course in Cavan Institute, a chance to peruse a hobby she had been interested in since childhood. Five years later and a qualified teacher, that year out remains the best decision she ever made.
